Silver Salon

Silver Salon sees its whole business in one place, and asks it questions.

Meet Sylvia: the whole salon, one text away.

The dashboard is the foundation. Sylvia is how the owners actually use it, in plain language, from their phone, the same way they text anyone else.

What was our capped retail-to-service ratio last month?
58% for the salon, capped so one big extension sale doesn't skew it.

It keeps learning

Text it a receipt, it lands in the dashboard

Send Sylvia a receipt, a note, a number. It files it, remembers it, and the dashboard reflects it right away.

That would take me pulling several different reports and literally pulling out my handy dandy calculator that I keep on my desk all the time.

The problem

Silver Salon's operating data lives in the tools every salon runs on: a booking platform here, a payments processor there. Answering a basic performance question meant pulling several reports and reconciling them by hand. And some questions the reports couldn't answer fairly at all: a single high-ticket extension sale would skew a stylist's retail-to-service ratio for the month.

Co-owner Evan had explored building something himself with AI tools and concluded the honest answer was that his time was better spent running the business.

02

What we're building

Phase one is a live dashboard that pulls the salon's systems into one place: booking history back to 2020, payments reconciled against what actually reaches the bank, per-stylist and per-client views, and the custom metrics the off-the-shelf reports can't do, like a capped retail-to-service ratio that measures extension artists fairly.

On top of the dashboard sits Sylvia, an AI agent the owners reach over iMessage. Sylvia answers plain-language questions across the salon's full history, computes new metrics on the fly, and texts back charts. No report-pulling, no calculator.

Where it stands

The engagement kicked off in July 2026 and is underway now, deliberately unhurried, with the owners reviewing progress monthly as the dashboard comes online against their real data.

I'm excited about it. I think it's going to serve our team powerfully.
